Timeline related?

How long will it be before I receive my order?
Once you place your order and submit your photo, we will generate the first proof within 2 business days. Once you are satisfied and give final proof approval, your cards will be printed and shipped typically within 5-6 business days. Our orders are sent USPS priority mail, which usually takes 2-3 days nationwide (though it can be longer during the holidays). Turnaround time depends greatly on your prompt submission of your photo and how many proofs you will need, and how quickly you review the proofs. Delays in reviewing proofs or submitting photos will cause delays in the production and shipment of your cards.

Is there a deadline for Christmas card orders?
Due to the increased printing and shipping activity that occur during the holidays, we would ask that all Christmas card orders be placed no later than Friday, December 7, 2007 to allow for timely proofing, production, and delivery.

Christmas orders can be placed after this date, but since this is a customized product that requires proofing before production and shipping, we cannot guarantee you will receive your order in time for Christmas mailing. Therefore, we cannot give refunds or credits for orders placed after our deadline.

Photo related?

When do I upload my photo?
On the product order page, you will be able to choose your photo to be uploaded. Then when you submit your order to the cart, your photo will be uploaded. This upload may take some time depending on your internet connection speed and the size of your file.

If you are not ready to submit your photo at the time of ordering (for example if you are not at home or don't have your photo files handy), you may place your order without doing so. Simply leave the Upload Photo box empty. After checking out you will receive an email confirming your order. When you decide on a photo, email it to photos@scrapfancy.com, and be sure to include your order number to reduce delays.

Please remember that the faster you submit your photo and review your proofs etc., the faster you will receive your cards!

In order to ensure that there is sufficient quality of resolution to create a good-looking card, please submit unedited, full size, color JPEG images and let us do any conversions or cropping for you. If you want the photos cropped, converted to black and white or sepia, you can indicate that in the Additional Instructions during checkout.

The minimum digital file size we will accept is 200Kb. Any smaller than that and we cannot create a quality printed image. However, this is just the minimum, and we strongly recommend sending a larger image, preferably your full size original, especially if you will need cropping.

Can I scan a photo?
Yes you can scan a physical print in order to send us a digital file.

Our scanning tips follow:
  • Scan original photos, not copies or inkjet printouts.
  • Glossy photos work best for scanning (matte photos often have texture which is picked up by the scanner)
  • Clean the scanner and photo before scanning for best results
  • Please scan at 300dpi, with a minimum size of 4x6. This means if you are scanning a 4x6, set your scaling to 100% at 300dpi.
  • Save the image as a JPEG at the highest quality possible
Can I mail you prints or negatives?
We do not accept mailed prints or negatives, only digital files.

If you have only a print or negative, you can either scan it (see above) or take it to a photo developer and have them put it on CD for you. Then, upload that digital file to our site.

Yes. If your photos were given to you on CD by your photographer, we do not require a photo release-however, by submitting the images to us, you agree to assume full responsibility if any conflicts arise with the photographer.

Otherwise, we will require a release form from the photographer or studio. You may use this form here or the photographer may send permission on his own letterhead. We must receive the release either through the mail, fax, or email of a scanned form, so as to obtain a signature. Email/electronic releases without a physical signature are not sufficient.

I want a black and white image for my card but my photo is in color. Can you convert it? I want my image cropped. Can you do that?
Yes! We will convert your photo to black and white or sepia at no charge-simply indicate this in the photo options on the product ordering page. Some cropping may be necessary to fit the photo in the chosen design. If you have specific crop ideas, you can submit them in the "Additional Instructions" box and we will do our best to crop accordingly. There is no charge for cropping.

What is included in the free photo enhancement?
Have you ever gotten one of those photo cards from someone that went to a discount photo kiosk and the picture looks dull, or even worse, it has some strange greenish cast on it? We don't want you to look green, or orange. We want your photos to look their very best. So, as a free service, we do Photoshop enhancements to improve the color and clarity of your pictures when applicable. This is one of the greatest advantages of Scrap Fancy-we know it's about more than just slapping your photo onto a predetermined automated template.

Personalization options

What are my options for personalization?
Most designs allow you to choose a sentiment (e.g. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays) and choose how you want your name to be displayed.

Some designs allow for some additional text (e.g. a short poem, personalized sentiment, or Bible verse). Please view the sample image to get an idea of how much room there is for text. In some cases we may be able to put text over the photo itself in nonessential areas, but this is not possible if the background is very busy. If we are not able to accommodate the additional text, we will use our best judgment in creating the proof.


Proofing

How many proofs do I get?
Your initial proof will be ready within 2 business days after you order. If you need to make any corrections/revisions, you may see up to 2 additional proofs at no charge. After that, there is a charge of $10 for each additional proof.

If you want to see proofs of more than one design, please contact us-there is a $15 charge for each additional proof setup.


Payment

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and PayPal funds. We process our payments through a secure Paypal shopping cart. You do not have to have a PayPal account to pay with credit card.

What if I cancel my order?
If you decide to cancel your order after we have begun work on your proof, a $20 design fee will be charged for the design work that has been done. If there were additional proofs that were generated before cancellation, you will be charged $5 for each one. This is necessary due to the personalized nature of the product-we do not use automated computerized templates, so each proof takes human design time.

At the time that you place your order and checkout, we will authorize your card or account to ensure that the funds are available, and then charge when the cards ship. In the case that you cancel your order after we have generated a proof, we will charge accordingly for the proof(s) at the time you cancel.

Miscellaneous

Are envelopes included?
Yes. All our cards come with white envelopes.

How do I place a reorder?
If you decide you need more of the same design card after you have received your order (or after the order has been sent to print), you can contact us and we will email you an invoice via PayPal (payable with credit card or PayPal balance). Minimum quantities and order increments apply on reorders. We will keep your finished card design on file for 90 days from the date of original order completion. After receiving payment we will print and ship your cards within three business days.

Do you offer refunds?
We want you to be happy with your cards, and strive to produce the best product that we can. After all, when you look good, we look good! The quality of your cards will depend in large part on the quality of the photo you send us. Therefore, we highly recommend you send us the original high quality images. Also, we ask that you carefully look over the wording on your proofs (double and triple check) to ensure that you do not have any mistakes, spelling or otherwise. Due to the custom nature of the work, we cannot offer refunds for work that has been performed. If there has been a mistake that is solely our fault, we will reprint and ship them free of charge. If you made a mistake inputting personalization during ordering and did not catch it during the proofs, we cannot give a refund, but we can edit and reprint the card(s) at a discount. Please contact us if this is the case.
